Last football game!

Well, I am laid-up at home sick today. I started running a fever Saturday night, and after a trip to urgent care yesterday (where my temperature was 103 degrees), I am stuck at home until the fever goes away. So, I thought I would take the opportunity to do some blogging.

Saturday afternoon was the final home football game of the season. (Fortunately, the game was at noon, and I had not yet started feeling ill.) The high on Saturday here in Memphis was 72 degrees, so it was absolutely perfect weather to end the season with. Unfortunately, the University of Memphis has never been known for their football program. (I think the team won 1 game this year. ha) But I think most people would agree that football games are pretty fun no matter how well your team is doing - especially when you have a field pass and are allowed to be right down on the field! Besides, I was there to see the band, not the football team. Duh!

A couple of pictures from pre-game

The University of Memphis mascot - Tom III. They lost Tom II last season to cancer, and brought Tom III in a year ago as a little cub. So, he's not quite full grown yet - he's still pretty impressive though. He comes to all the home football games, and spends the rest of his time at a large complex where he has room to roam in Mississippi.

The marching band performed a Michael Jackson show for half-time. It was a show that had actually been planned before Michael passed away. After this summer, Albert considered pulling the show because he knew that every band in the country would probably be doing a Michael Jackson tribute this year, but the students were so excited about it, he decided to keep it. For weeks, Albert told me that he was going to go out on the field and dance with the students during the dance break in the middle of Thriller. So, that's why I shot the video from the field (even though it's not the best vantage point). But...he chickened out and didn't do it. He said that he hadn't rehearsed it at all. Hmmmm.... Had I known that, I would have shot the video from up in the stands where I could see the whole band. Oh, well - here it is anyway.

And finally, here we are, happy that the season is over!

Now it's time to get ready for basketball season!

Hey Amy! I hope you feel better soon. Now that the season is over, we need to get together soon. There are several movies that I want to see...maybe we can do a double date again sometime soon?
