Going Greek...

...yogurt, that is.

I have known about Greek yogurt for quite awhile now.  I'm not sure where I first heard about it, but it has definitely been growing in popularity recently.  For some reason (don't ask me why), I had this idea in my head that Greek yogurt was incredibly sour (think sour cream) and was best used as an ingredient while cooking or baking.  While out at Costco last week, we stopped at a booth that was handing out samples of Chobani Greek yogurt.  I decided to take a risk (again, think sour cream) and try it because if I didn't like it, I wouldn't have to feel bad about throwing out a whole carton.  Verdict:  It was delicious!  Who knew?!  During our grocery trip last weekend, we picked up a carton of each brand of Greek yogurt the store carried to do a little taste test.  Our particular grocery store carries Chobani, Yoplait, and Dannon.  After having tried all three, my least favorite (by far) was the Yoplait.  It was a pretty close call taste-wise between Dannon and Chobani, but health-wise, Dannon had the best numbers.  So, Dannon Greek yogurt it is!

I also recently picked up a jar of Naturally More peanut butter.

I love peanut butter - always have.  Skippy has always been my favorite, even though I have long heard that it is quite unhealthy.  Since I don't eat meat, peanut butter has always been an easy source of protein for me.  So, after discovering that the switch to Greek yogurt was so easy, I thought "Why stop now?" and decided to try to make the switch to natural peanut butter as well.  After reading about a number of different brands, as well as reading a lot of reviews, I decided on Naturally More.  Unfortunately, this is not going to be quite as easy a switch as the yogurt was.  I'm not 100% sold on the natural peanut butter yet, and may continue to experiment with various brands.  I can't really argue with the nutrition label though.  As Albert was reading the label on the jar, he exclaimed "Hey, I recognize all of the ingredients in this list!  There are no additives or anything weird."  Pretty amazing in today's world of highly processed foods.
How about you?  Have you ever tried natural peanut butter or Greek yogurt?  If so, what are your favorites?
