Habit

So, I mentioned in my first post that one of the things that I wanted to improve on was my exercise routine (or lack thereof).  Over the past summer, I have gone in spurts as far as exercising is concerned.  I'd be good about it for a few weeks, then lose motivation, get too busy, etc.  Those were all just excuses though.  So, from now on, every Monday I am going to post exercise reports.  My goal is to work out 5 times per week (maybe 6 if I'm really feeling it).  I have no plan as to how I am going to structure my workouts yet.  The main goal right now is just to make it a habit....to get myself back into the routine of working out regularly.  And if I'm posting reports, I'm certainly not going to want to have to admit that I only worked out once or twice during the whole week, right?!

Today, I rode about 5.5 miles on the bike with varying degrees of resistance, and I did a few sets of crunches and push-ups.  After five rehearsals, grocery shopping, and about two hours of practice, I feel like this was a pretty good start.

This was the exercise highlight of my summer

This was a 5K that Albert and I ran in June in Kona, Hawaii.  Now I realize this is not the best picture of me, but the gentleman in the front of the picture just happens to be Frank Shorter: 1972 marathon Olympic gold medalist.  This shot was taken by my brother about 500 yards from the finish line, which means we (Albert is behind the taller guy) finished the race with an Olympic runner.  Pretty sweet, huh?
A better picture (also courtesy of my brother)

So, I'm counting on you all to hold me accountable!!  And of course, simple encouragement would be nice too.  :)  Well, I'm going to get off the computer now.  Look for an exercise update next Monday!

Very cool stuff Amy! You can work out with me if you want...we'll have to take it easy on the weights with you though...I'm pretty sure you can't do 300 plus on a squat :D
